Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

HD®Wool and Celtic & Co

Our mission is to create beautiful, natural sustainable clothing and footwear that everyone can choose over petroleum-based synthetic fibres that are damaging to our environment. We consider our impact on the planet and people with every decision we make from sourcing suppliers as close to home as possible to only using the finest natural fibres in our range. Passionate supporters of British manufacturing, many of our products are made within Great Britain. Not only does this help us build great relationships with our suppliers, but it’s one of 16 key circular principles in which we have carefully built our business model around.

WHAT DREW YOU/YOUR TEAM TO THE HD® WOOL PRODUCT?

Working with HD® Wool Apparel Insulation has given us the chance to use an all-natural insulation in our products, where previously this was not affordable or possible for us. It’s great to collaborate with another innovative British company with ideals that aligned to ours here at Celtic & Co. The fact the wool used is traceable British wool too is a bonus.

HOW WAS WORKING WITH THE HD®WOOL TEAM?

Great, super knowledgeable and very helpful.

CAN YOU TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT WHY YOU THINK SUSTAINABILITY AND BRITISH MADE IS SO IMPORTANT TO YOUR CONSUMERS?

A sense of environmental and social responsibility has been woven into the DNA of Celtic & Co. since we began crafting sheepskin products over 30 years ago. Staying true to our heritage, our sheepskin boots and slippers are still manufactured in-house at our workshop in Newquay, Cornwall – and many of our customer appreciate that these products are still handcrafted, and they can also get their boots resoled and repaired so they can last for years! Consumers are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious and care about where their clothing comes from, and they can trust that we use responsible supply chains and natural fibres for all our products.

Read Celtic & Co. Sustainability report from 2022 here for greater insight into their progressive approach.

WHAT EXCITES YOU THE MOST ABOUT THE PRODUCTS YOU ARE PRODUCING AT THE MOMENT?

It’s offering our customers something new as well as a plastic free alternative, which supports the British Wool industry, and is different to what is found across most of the high street right now.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE SOME OF THE NEW PRODUCTS OR PROJECTS YOU HAVE IN THE PIPE-LINE IN 3 WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?

Feminine, classic, earthy

WHY DO YOU THINK MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE CHOOSING UK WOOL FOR THEIR APPAREL PRODUCTS?

It helps support UK manufacturing and farmers, and it’s all natural which is much better for the environment than using plastic polyester wadding/insulation. We love that HD® Wool has many natural properties such as being degradable, insulating, needs little cleaning, and is anti-microbial.

WHICH OTHER MATERIALS DO YOU WORK WITH WHERE YOU ARE ABLE TO TRACE BACK TO ITS ORIGIN AND HAS A STORY TO TELL?

Traceability is really important to our customers, so we always try to have as much information as possible for our garments. We’re using more and more British wool for our knitwear and accessories, as well as super fine Geelong wool, cashmere from SFA (sustainable fibre alliance) members, Euroflax linen, Ecovera viscose, and Donegal wool. You can find more here

DO YOU ANY HAVE PROJECTS, FILMS OR EVENTS COMING UP YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR COMMUNITY?

We’ve recent worked with Nottingham Trent University’s knitwear course on a repurposing project, looking at sustainable solutions for some of our reject garments. It’s great to support emerging talent within our industry. We’ve also been shortlisted for a Drapers Sustainable Fashion Award in the sustainable textile innovation category for our work on natural undyed wool, British manufacturing, and recycled materials.

The awards are in May, so we’re excited for the final results!
