HDWOOL WEARER TRIALS
Real world testing at the Carnegie School of Sport
HD®Wool Apparel Insulation is a game-changing nonwoven insulation made from natural wool fibres, designed to help the modern end user create a positive impact on the environment. Our innovative solutions approach not only provide unbeatable comfort and performance, but also helps to mitigate the harmful effects of synthetic insulation by reducing microfibre pollution and promoting sustainability. Backed by scientific data, HD®Wool Apparel Insulation is the smart and responsible choice for end users who value quality, performance, and the well-being of our planet.
To demonstrate the active performance of HD®Wool Apparel Insulation, the team visited the Carnegie School of Sports to observe and comprehensively understand the comfort benefits that HD® Wool offers to wearers when compared to polyester.
Lab conditions were set to mimic realistic European walking conditions of 4°C room temperature and 80% relative humidity. We monitored skin temperature, heart rate, core body temperature, sweat volume, and used thermal imagery at standardised intervals for a comprehensive performance analysis.
Results showed us that wearing HD®Wool Apparel Insulation:
Keeps skin temperature lower during exercise and keeps you warm during cool down. Shown in Graph 1 below.
Works better with your layering system and helps you stay active for longer before wetting out. Shown here on Graph 2 and 3.
These trails support earlier research which shows that HD® Wool is an ideal choice for active performance insulation under real world testing conditions.
